How dietitians can help consumers make kidney friendly purchases

Description: This interactive webinar will help health and wellness professionals, especially retail dietitians, understand how to support the needs of consumers living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). According to the CDC, 1 in 7 Americans, or nearly 36 million people, have chronic kidney disease. Information available to consumers about renal nutrition is confusing and conflicting, leaving your clients, patients and consumers struggling to know what to buy at the grocery store. Armed with up-to-date guidelines and merchandising ingenuity, health and wellness professionals can help consumers with CKD make smart shopping choices.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the risk factors and clinical trajectory of chronic kidney disease.
  • Discuss current medical nutrition therapy guidelines for renal nutrition.
  • Explore strategies for helping consumers with CKD navigate the grocery store aisle.
